The Peace Curling Development Society (PCDS) was founded to provide local opportunities for curlers of all ages. Young children to seniors over 70 are able to develop their skill levels, to enjoy a sport they love, and to compete for curling championships.
The Peace Country has a tremendous track record of producing provincial, national, and world championship curlers. The PCDS supports the success of Peace Country curlers and clubs through skills development workshops with emphasis on the development of junior curling, and the Peace Curling Tour.
The Peace Curling Tour is unique in its interaction of age and gender, where it is not uncommon to see a team of women in their 60s compete against juvenile boys. Twenty teams of all ages and gender qualify for the Tour’s annual championship held each January in Sexsmith. Qualifying cash spiels are held in 5 communities: Grande Prairie, Peace River, Slave Lake, Dawson Creek, and Fort St. John. Each season, we send over 20 Peace Country teams to participate in Alberta championships, with potential winners going on to Canadian and world championships.
